Job Description of CMDB Engineer
✅ Every reliable IT service depends on knowing what you have and how it all connects. As our CMDB Engineer, you will be the steward of that knowledge. You will keep the Configuration Management Database accurate, complete, and trustworthy, working alongside Observability teams and service owners.
✅ This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys data quality and troubleshooting. You will maintain the approved data model and reconciliation rules rather than redesign them, and your work will produce the ITSM and control evidence the business relies on. If you are early in your CMDB career and want to deepen your skills in a real enterprise environment, this role is for you.
Key Responsibilities of CMDB Engineer
✅ Maintain the accuracy, completeness, and stewardship of CMDB data, working closely with Observability teams and service owners.
✅ Maintain Configuration Item (CI), class, and relationship records.
✅ Manage data imports and transform maps to keep CMDB data current.
✅ Troubleshoot Identification and Reconciliation Engine (IRE) and reconciliation issues.
✅ Apply and maintain the approved IRE and source-precedence rules, without redesigning the platform model.
✅ Produce CMDB health reports and reliable ITSM and control evidence.
✅ Escalate model and security decisions to the Digital Workplace team.
Qualification Required for CMDB Engineer
✅ Education
✅ Bachelor’s degree (Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field preferred)
✅ Experience
✅ 1+ year of relevant experience in CMDB, ITSM, or IT asset and configuration management
✅ Skills
✅ CI, class, and relationship maintenance
✅ Imports and transform maps
✅ IRE and reconciliation troubleshooting
✅ CMDB health reporting
✅ Attention to detail, with strong communication and collaboration skills
