Job Description of Lead Process Safety Engineer
✅ Mannesmann Energy is looking for a Lead Process Safety Engineer to guide process safety on complex brownfield projects in Abu Dhabi. You will be the technical authority on hazard identification and risk management. Your work will shape project design decisions and protect people, assets and the environment. This is a high-visibility leadership role where you will direct multidisciplinary teams and work directly with clients and consultants to meet the region’s demanding safety standards.
Key Responsibilities of Lead Process Safety Engineer
✅ Lead process safety studies across project phases, including HAZOP, HAZID, LOPA, SIL, QRA, Bow-Tie and Fire & Gas studies
✅ Provide technical leadership on process safety for EPC brownfield projects
✅ Ensure designs and deliverables comply with ADNOC, IEC, API, NFPA and other relevant international standards
✅ Coordinate with process, instrumentation, electrical, mechanical and other disciplines to resolve safety findings and track actions to closure
✅ Act as the main process safety contact for clients and consultants, presenting findings and managing review comments
✅ Review and approve safety deliverables, reports and recommendations
✅ Mentor and guide junior process safety engineers
Qualification Required for Lead Process Safety Engineer
✅ Education
✅ Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Process Engineering, or a related field
✅ Experience
✅ 15+ years of oil and gas or process safety experience
✅ Strong EPC project experience, particularly on brownfield projects
✅ Proven experience leading HAZOP, HAZID, LOPA, SIL, QRA, Bow-Tie and Fire & Gas studies
✅ Experience with client and consultant interface
✅ ADNOC project experience (preferred)
✅ Skills and Knowledge
✅ Strong knowledge of ADNOC, IEC, API, NFPA and other international standards
✅ Strong leadership and multidisciplinary coordination skills
✅ Process Safety or Functional Safety certification (preferred)
