Job Description of API Platform Engineer
✅ Banks are rebuilding how they deliver services, and APIs are what connect the new platforms. As an API Platform Engineer in Dubai, you will help design, secure and run the API platforms behind core and digital banking transformation programmes.
✅ You will work with industry standards such as BIAN, and with leading API management tools. Your work will help banking services reach customers and partners reliably and securely. This is a good role if you have early-career API experience and want to grow in a regulated, high-impact sector.
Key Responsibilities of API Platform Engineer
✅ Design, build and manage banking APIs on API management platforms such as Kong, Apigee or Azure API Management.
✅ Model APIs and services against BIAN APIs and banking service domains.
✅ Define and maintain API specifications using OpenAPI (REST) and AsyncAPI (event-driven).
✅ Implement API security with OAuth 2.0 and OpenID Connect (OIDC).
✅ Deploy and operate API gateways and supporting services on Kubernetes or OpenShift.
✅ Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and manage platform configuration with Git and Infrastructure as Code.
✅ Support core and digital banking transformation initiatives, working with architects, developers and business stakeholders.
✅ Use approved AI engineering tools responsibly to improve productivity and quality.
✅ Monitor platform performance, troubleshoot issues and document standards and best practices.
Qualification Required for API Platform Engineer
✅ Education and experience
✅ Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering or a related field.
✅ 1+ year of experience in API management or platform engineering.
✅ Experience in a major core banking or digital banking transformation programme.
✅ Skills and knowledge
✅ Banking API management.
✅ Working knowledge of BIAN APIs and banking service domains.
✅ Hands-on experience with Kong, Apigee, Azure API Management or an equivalent platform.
✅ Knowledge of OpenAPI, AsyncAPI, OAuth and OIDC.
✅ Familiarity with Kubernetes or OpenShift, Git, CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code.
✅ Familiarity with approved AI engineering tools.
