1. Balaleet

Balaleet is a famous food in the Gulf area. It has a sweet and sour flavor since it is made with cooked vermicelli, sugar, cardamom, rose water, and saffron. It is placed over an egg omelet once it has been cooked. In India, such a dish is known as sheer khurma, while in Pakistan, it is known as Muzaffar.


2. Madrouba (Beaten Rice)

Madrouba, as the name suggests, is a recipe that involves cooking rice for extended periods before mixing the components. This results in a smooth, flavorful combination. Various ingredients like chicken chunks, spices, and dried limes can be added for an earthy, citrus taste. Not to mention the cardamom ghee taste and the fried onions.


3. Waraq (Stuffed Grape Leaves)

Waraq Enab, or stuffed grape leaves, can be served as an appetizer or a main course. It comprises grape leaves packed with rice, herbs, diced tomatoes, lemon juice, oil, salt, and pepper.  This technique makes them plump and delectable. They are then filled with rice and herbs and placed in a skillet to boil for hours until the rice is cooked.


4. Machboos

Machboos is a diverse meal made out of severely spiced rice with any form of meat such as cow, camel, chicken, lamb, goat, shrimp, or fish. It necessitates adding a Baharat spice mix, which may be created at home from various spices or purchased ready-made at a market. Some people believe the Machboos are incomplete without the dried lemon or loomi. This dish’s preparation and appearance are reminiscent of Indian biryani.


5. Mahalabiya

Mahalabiya is a popular dish during Ramadan. It’s made with milk, sugar, cardamom powder, rosewater, and crushed pistachios. During the cooking process, milk is boiled, and sugar is poured and stirred until it dissolves. Then, ground cardamom and rose water are added, and the finished mixture is chilled for a few hours to solidify. As a finishing touch, ground pistachios are sprinkled over the top.


6. Kousa Mahshi (Stuffed Zucchini)

Kousa Mahshi is a dish with zucchini as the foundation. A vegetable corer is used in the creation of this meal to hollow out the zucchini, which is then filled with seasoned rice and meat. The zucchini slices are simmered in a skillet with red sauce for hours until soft. Those looking for a vegetarian option might try chickpeas.


7. Tabbouleh

Tabbouleh is more than just a salad. It calls for finely chopped veggies, fresh parsley, bulgur, or wheat flour. It’s only seasoned with lime juice and olive oil. The liberally added parsley is the main star of this meal, wonderfully balancing the citrus taste.


8. Esh Asaraya

Esh asaraya is also called the harem’s bread. It’s a cream-topped cheesecake treat. White bread, sugar syrup, thick cream, sugar, water, and crushed pistachios are among the ingredients. The bread is first split into crumbs and then cooked till toasted. The dish is then cooked with sugar syrup until browned and solid. The caramel combination is then formed by adding sugar and heating it. The last touch is to add rich cream on top. It is best served chilled.
